Walk a mile in eve's shoes

The name Eve is from Hebrew and means “life source” or “living one”. As the first woman, it is from her body that all life was come. Scientists can trace the mitochondrial DNA only through the maternal side as it is passed from mother to child. It can trace genetic branches on the evolutionary tree, but who really was Eve?

Eve was the first mother, the first woman, and the first wife. She was a trailblazer birthing a new species. As the very first mother, Eve did one of the hardest jobs in the world without the assistance and guidance of any other woman.  For all of us, being a parent for the first time, can be quite an initiation.  Imagine Eve- it is the middle of the night and the baby is crying…she has no idea why, but the baby will not stop and its cheeks are red and on fire.  There are no grandmothers, doctors or friends to phone. One can only image how hard it would have been to have teenagers and then to have one of your own children kill the other over jealousy.

Life for all of us comes with our own challenges, some more that others but we have the knowledge and benefit of support from others who have been down a similar road. When I am faced with difficult situations as a parent, it helps me to remember that I do have people around me who I can call on to give me advice and support by coming up with a creative solution.

We are not alone.
